WOHNFEE visited LIND DNA in its beautiful showroom in Copenhagen and would like to introduce this special company to you today.
LIND DNA was founded in 2013 with the goal of creating a new and different kind of design brand based on recycled leather. With its own production and the use of local suppliers, LIND DNA creates timeless designs that are made with respect for the craftsmanship and the materials used.
The owner-managed company insists as far as possible on manufacturing everything in its own local production in Denmark. This makes it possible, first and foremost, to be actively present throughout the entire production process and to guarantee a constant, high production standard. Secondly, sustainability is a matter close to LIND DNA's heart.
Reduction, reuse and recycling
The vegetable-tanned leather - certified by OEKO-TEX - comes from excess material that accumulates during the production of furniture, bags and shoes. First, it is washed and granulated, then pressed with natural rubber obtained from trees. This creates a material consisting of 80% real leather and 20% natural rubber, which is then dyed with water-based colours and decorated with beautiful surface structures and patterns.
Most LIND DNA products are designed, produced and packaged locally in Denmark to minimise transport effort. The company strives to use as little packaging as possible, and if it is needed, they use a biodegradable and compostable packaging material from Kraftpak® made of wood fibres - an untreated cardboard variety made from the excess sawdust of local sawmills. At the headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark, LIND DNA ensures that as little waste as possible is generated during the design work by reusing the resources.
Since the beginning of 2013, the collection of table decoration products has been expanded to include interior design concepts for private households, offices as well as hotels & restaurants. Concepts for the living room, the bedroom and the kitchen - all according to the motto: less is more. Honest, nature-based materials such as the OEKO-TEX-certified recycled leather as well as steel, wool and oak wood from Europe form the basis of most products. The collection is Nordic in character, yet multicultural. It is creative and yet classic and timeless. Every piece of furniture is part of a functional, smart interior design concept that was developed according to good craft principles and offers unique flexibility and usability.
As we have heard, work is already underway on further recycling products - so we can be curious to see what beautiful, valuable products will be added next year. Of course, we are already looking forward to using these special products in our showroom and in our stagings.
